【ポイント】
◆フレイルチェストとは，肋骨・胸骨骨折により胸郭の支持性が部分的に破綻し，吸気時に陥没する奇異性呼吸を呈する動揺胸郭で，骨折の形態は問わない．
◆初期治療では呼吸管理と胸腔ドレナージ，画像診断のタイミングが重要で，気胸の有無を確認しないで気管挿管を行ってはならない．
◆近年，様々な種類の多発肋骨骨折について手術治療の有用性が認められてきており，フレイルチェストに関しては最も意見が一致している．
