はじめに

　1988年に顕微授精（ICSI）による受精が確認され^1），1992年にPalermoら^2）によってICSIによるはじめての妊娠が報告されてからICSIは急速に浸透し，今や生殖医療に欠かせない技術の1つとなった．ICSIはここ10年間の臨床統計によりその有効性が確認されたのみでなく，技術面でも確立された方法となった．技術面での向上に伴い，ICSIの受精率はIVFのそれと比較して変わらないことが報告されている^{3, 4）}．

　本稿では，具体的なICSIの基本技術に加えて受精率，妊娠率向上への注意点を述べる．
