はじめに

　がん検診の目的はがん死亡率を下げることにある．子宮頸癌検診としての頸部細胞診は子宮頸癌の罹患率・死亡率の減少に大きく貢献し，その有効性が確立している．病変の早期発見により多くの患者が救われる一方で，検診を受けていたにもかかわらず浸潤癌に至る症例があるのも事実である．本稿ではCIN（cervical intraepithelial neoplasia）を中心に，前癌段階にある頸部病変の取り扱いおよび管理上の注意点について概説する．
