はじめに

　本特集においてわれわれに課されたテーマは，「稀な子宮頸部悪性病変について臨床医が留意すべき病態についてまとめる」ということである．稀といってもきわめて稀なものになるとわれわれ自身の経験も少なく，わずか1～2例の経験でその腫瘍の全体像にかかわるようなことに言及することは危険である．そこで，ここでは比較的稀ではあるが，いずれもわれわれ自身少なくとも数例以上の経験があるすりガラス細胞癌，小細胞癌，そしていわゆる悪性腺腫について，治療や予防の今後を考えるためにという視点を持ちながら病理側からみた重要な点を述べてみたい．したがって，human papilloma virus（HPV）との関連についても触れる．ここに述べる腫瘍は比較的稀ではあるが，婦人科医ならばいつどこで患者に遭遇してもそう驚くにあたらない程度の頻度では発生しているはずであるので，病理側の考え，特に病理側の診断上のジレンマともいうべきことを知っておいてもらうことは意義のあることと思われる．
