子宮頸がん征圧を目指す細胞診の進歩

　子宮頸がん検診に使われる細胞診は，日本にHPV（human papillomavirus）ワクチンが登場する以前から，より予防を目指すための精度を保証する方策を積み重ね進歩してきた．

　まず，検診に使われる子宮頸部細胞診の結果報告が，従来の日母のクラス分類から欧米で一般化しているベセスダシステムへと変更された．これは，検診で採取された細胞標本のうち出来映えのよくないものを排除して，誤診の原因を除いたり，結果を病理診断と照らし合わせてその精度を評価しやすくするなど，細胞診の精度向上に役立っている．
