　Women's Health Initiative（以下WHI）には膨大なデータが蓄積されており，新しい分析は，それまでになかった所見を付け加えることがある．WHIは1993～1998年の期間にわたり10,739人を対象とし，対象女性を以下の3群に区別した．

1）エストロゲンは抱合エストロゲン（プレマリン^®）を使用し，黄体ホルモンにはmedroxyprogesterone acetateを使用した群
