●卵巣チョコレート囊胞の発育・進展は周囲卵巣皮質の正常組織構築を破壊し，そこに存在する原始卵胞の恒常性に影響を与える．

●子宮内膜症の卵巣では線維化とともに卵巣皮質に存在する原始卵胞数が低下し，原始卵胞のリクルートメントの亢進と初期発育卵胞での閉鎖卵胞の増加が認められる．

●子宮内膜症における卵巣予備能の低下は，局所炎症が惹起する原始卵胞のリクルートメントとそれに引き続く卵胞閉鎖の亢進による「burn-out」現象の結果ととらえられる．
