●子宮は妊娠ごとに平滑筋細胞の増殖と肥大により著明な増大を示す.

●妊娠子宮におけるダイナミックな変化は生殖年齢を過ぎても人工的に再現することができる.

●このような子宮の高い再生能力は,子宮における幹細胞システムの存在を示唆している.

●単一細胞由来(モノクローナル)と考えられている子宮筋腫の発生起源に幹細胞が関与している.
