●Mycoplasma hominis，Mycoplasma genitalium，Ureaplasma urealyticumとUreaplasma parvumの産科・婦人科領域における疾患・病態への関与が示唆されており，半数以上の女性から検出される．

●マイコプラズマ属およびウレアプラズマ属に感染した場合，クラミジア感染症・性器淋菌感染症に近い症状を認めることがある．実際には，無症候も含めクラミジア感染症に症状が類似していることも多いため，検査でしか判別ができないことが多い．

●マイコプラズマ属およびウレアプラズマ属の検出がただちに感染症に結びつくわけではないが，産科・婦人科において早期にマイコプラズマ属・ウレアプラズマ属による感染症を特定し，治療を開始することにより患者の身体への負担を最小限に抑えることが可能になる．
