●MHHは頻度の高い疾患ではないが，無精子症症例でも薬物療法のみで自然妊娠まで期待できる，数少ない男性不妊疾患の1つである．

●遺伝子異常などが関与する先天性MHHと，脳外科手術などが関与する後天性MHHがある．

●妊孕性を目的とした治療の中心はhCG製剤とrecombinant human FSH（r-hFSH）製剤の投与であり，在宅自己注射が保険診療上承認されている．
