●子宮内膜症（特に子宮内膜症性卵巣囊胞）の存在は子宮内操作を伴う婦人科処置をする際，骨盤内感染発症のリスク因子となる．

●卵管卵巣膿瘍に進展した際には，外科的な処置が必要になることが多く，その後に妊孕性が大きく損なわれることがある．

●特に子宮内膜症性卵巣囊胞が併存している症例の処置を行う際には，処置中の抗菌薬の投与など十分な感染を予防する手段を講じる必要がある．
