●HPV16,18型に代表されるハイリスクHPVは,感染した上皮細胞に持続感染していくなかで,感染細胞をがん細胞へと変化させることがある.特に女性の子宮頸部は,組織学的な特異性からがん化しやすく,子宮頸がんは若年発症,かつ発生数が圧倒的に多い.

●HPV感染自体を中和抗体によって予防できるHPVワクチンが,子宮頸がんの発症リスクを減少させることが明らかとなった.

●8年以上続いた日本国内での接種勧奨の差し控えが終了し,さらにその間に接種できなかった女性に対するキャッチアップ接種も時限付きではあるが開始される.この機会を逃さずに利用していきたい.
