〔SUMMARY〕 多数のキャピラリーに効率良くレーザービームを照射し,高感度に蛍光検出する技術の開発により,DNAシークエンサーはスラブゲル型からキャピラリー型に発展した.その結果,塩基配列の解読スループットは二桁程度も向上し,ヒトゲノム完全解読に大きく貢献した.また,繰り返しの自動操作が可能となったため,分析コストが著しく低減し,信頼性が向上した.今後,DNAシークエンサーはライフサイエンスの基本技術であり続けると同時に,臨床を始めとする様々な産業分野に応用されることが期待される.〔臨床検査 49:982-988,2005〕
