〔SUMMARY〕　多数のキャピラリーに効率良くレーザービームを照射し，高感度に蛍光検出する技術の開発により，DNAシークエンサーはスラブゲル型からキャピラリー型に発展した．その結果，塩基配列の解読スループットは二桁程度も向上し，ヒトゲノム完全解読に大きく貢献した．また，繰り返しの自動操作が可能となったため，分析コストが著しく低減し，信頼性が向上した．今後，DNAシークエンサーはライフサイエンスの基本技術であり続けると同時に，臨床を始めとする様々な産業分野に応用されることが期待される．〔臨床検査　49：982-988，2005〕
