はじめに

　悪性リンパ腫とは，成熟リンパ球系細胞の単クローン性腫瘍性疾患で，臨床的にはリンパ節を中心に腫瘤性病変を特徴とする．悪性リンパ腫は腫瘍細胞の細胞生物学的な多様性と同時に臨床的にも多様性に富んでいるので，的確な治療法の選択や予後の推定のためにも正確な診断と分類が不可欠である．

　悪性リンパ腫の診断や分類は一般にWHOの診断基準に準拠している．すなわち，腫瘍細胞の細胞起源(cell origin)によってT細胞，B細胞，NK細胞の三大系統別に分類し，次いで腫瘍細胞の分化度(cell differentiation)などの細胞特性により各々の病型に分類される．実際の診断は細胞形態(morphology)，免疫形質(immunophenotype)，遺伝子特性(cytogenetics)の，いわゆるMIC特性を統合して行われている．以下，悪性リンパ腫診断における遺伝子検査の意義，現状における役割について解説する．
