頸動脈硬化性病変の超音波像―プラーク，壁肥厚

　頸部血管超音波検査は，脳梗塞や動脈硬化のリスク患者における頸動脈硬化の評価に有用な検査である．頸動脈は体表に近いためエコーで容易に観察できる．内中膜複合体の肥厚は早期動脈硬化を表し，全身の動脈硬化度の指標となるほか，スタチン製剤などの動脈硬化進展抑制の治療効果判定にも有用である．エコーでは，プラークの内部性状の評価が可能であり，潰瘍形成や低輝度，不均質なプラークは脳梗塞を生じやすい．脳梗塞の責任血管病変となる頸動脈高度狭窄，閉塞の診断はもちろん，頸動脈硬化のスクリーニングとしても最適な検査である．〔臨床検査　51：257-261，2007〕
