炎症におけるpentraxin3の役割

　pentraxin(PTX)3は同じ仲間であるC反応性蛋白質(CRP)と同様に免疫や炎症において重要である．PTX3は炎症に反応して，血管内皮細胞やマクロファージなどの全身の細胞より産生されるため，肝臓のみで産生されるCRPと異なり，局所的な感染や炎症に敏感に反応する．正常な状態では，血液中のPTX3レベルは極めて低いが，炎症が起こるとそのレベルは急激に上昇する．臨床においてPTX3の血清レベルが特定の炎症性疾患の重症度，治療や予後などと相関すると報告されている．
