1.はじめに

 グラム陰性桿菌であるカンピロバクター属菌は,18菌種6亜種3生物型から構成されている.なかでもCampylobacter jejuniは,カンピロバクター腸炎の95~99%を占める.C. jejuni腸炎後に続発するギラン・バレー症候群(Guillain-Barré syndrome;GBS)は,その発症機序が解明され,細菌学のみならず神経内科学や免疫学の領域においても重要な存在となっている.本稿では,分子相同性仮説の立証に果たしたC. jejuni感染とGBSとの関係について述べたうえで,その臨床像を規定するC. jejuni遺伝子について解説する.
