1．自己炎症疾患とは？―自然免疫の異常がもたらす過剰な炎症

1．はじめに

　炎症にかかわる何らかの分子に変異を生じて，発熱などの炎症発作を繰り返す一群の先天性疾患が自己炎症疾患(autoinflammatory diseases)と呼ばれている．1997年に家族性地中海熱(familial Mediterranean fever；FMF)の原因がpyrinという分子の変異によることが突き止められ^1,2)，これを嚆矢として，いくつかの疾患の原因遺伝子変異が同定されてきた(表1)．これらの発見と相俟って，従来知られていなかった様々な分子が自然免疫の基本的な機能を担っていることも次第に明らかになり，自己炎症疾患の研究は臨床と基礎免疫学の両面から注目を集めている^3,4)．
