子宮頸がん検診の効率的なプログラムをデザインするには，その国の検診精度や経済状況，資源の問題などを考慮する必要がある．海外での子宮頸がん検診の実状や臨床試験を紹介し，わが国における検診プログラムを検討する一助としたい．特に，政府が包括的に子宮頸癌予防に取り組んでいるオーストラリアの状況は素晴らしく，有用な情報となる．
