バンコマイシン耐性腸球菌

1990年代以降，医療関連感染症の起因菌としてバンコマイシン耐性腸球菌(VRE)の急増が世界的な問題となっている．VRE感染症は医療コスト増大，入院期間の長期化と相関している．VRE感染対策において最も重要なことは無症状の保菌者をもれなく発見し，接触感染予防策をとることである．臨床検査や感染対策にかかわるスタッフは各施設の中心となって保菌者を効率よく発見する体制を準備しておくこと，保菌者発見時の対応を定めておくことが重要である．
