はじめに
　精神疾患の治療ターゲットは症状のみならず，機能障害に移行しつつある。このような背景から，アメリカ国立精神保健研究所(National Institute of Mental Health：NIMH)によってResearch Domain Criteria(RDoC)が提唱され，症状や機能障害をディメンジョナルに評価することの重要性が高まっている⁸⁾。つまり，従来のInternational Classification of Diseases(ICD)やDiagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM)などにおける症候に基づくカテゴリー的な分類による診断は，すべての精神疾患の本質を説明しないという批判である。さらに，これらの操作的診断基準を用いる診断は評価者間のばらつきが大きく，遺伝学や脳画像，認知科学などによる評価方法の導入が期待されている。とりわけ，RDoCのドメインの一つであるCognitive Systemsは，精神疾患のリカバリー指標としての社会機能，すなわち自立した生活，就業，対人関係の維持などとの関連において重要である¹¹⁾。
　広義の社会機能には，個人が社会生活において実行していることを示す機能的遂行力と，個人が潜在的にでき得ることを示す機能的能力という2つの水準がある⁸⁾。これらのうち，特に機能的能力は，遂行機能，注意，ワーキングメモリ，処理速度，言語流暢性，言語学習，視覚学習などの領域に及ぶ認知機能と密接に関係する¹⁸⁾。つまり認知機能はまず機能的能力に影響を与え，その上位に機能的遂行力が設定される。すなわち，これら3つの階層の機能的転帰は連続体をなし，それぞれ密接に関連する。
