ガイドラインのポイント
　・認知症とともに生きる人々を支援するスタッフを教育するとともにケアラーを支援するための推奨事項を作成することによって，ケアを改善することを目的としている。
　・対象者は①認知症とともに生きる人々をケアし，サポートする保健医療福祉専門職，②認知症の保健医療福祉サービスの監督者および提供者，③NHS，または認知症とととともに生きる人々にケアを提供するためにNHSや社会サービス事業者と契約を締結している住宅関係機関，民間およびボランティア機関，④認知症とともに生きる人々，その家族，ケアラーである。
　・前文には作成の背景が記されており，第1章に作成委員，第2章に推奨の強度，第3章に作成方法が解説されている。第4章は推奨事項の総覧で，第5章〜第19章に領域ごとのエビデンス/推奨事項の解説がある。
　・全体を通して「認知症患者」という用語は一切使用されず，「認知症とともに生きる人々」という用語が統一して使用されている。これは，本ガイドラインがパーソン・センタード・ケアの理念に下支えされたものであることを示している。
