抄録　インフォームド・コンセントを前提とする医療において，患者-医療者間のコミュニケーションは必須である。医療者が患者に「悪い知らせ」を伝える際に，望ましいコミュニケーション行動を表出することで，患者の心理的ストレスを抑制し，医療者への信頼感を増し，話し合った内容の理解を促進することがこれまでの研究から明らかになっていることから，医療において患者-医療者間の望ましいコミュニケーションを促進することは非常に重要である。難治がんの病名告知や抗がん薬治療中止の意思決定など患者にとって「悪い知らせ」が伝えられる際に，患者が医療者に望むコミュニケーションはSHARE(支持的な場の設定，伝え方，さまざまな情報，情緒的サポート)として，まとめられている。このような望ましいコミュニケーションを促進する方法として，医師を対象としたコミュニケーション・スキル・トレーニング，患者への質問促進リストなどが提案されている。
