抄録　WHOは2004年9月に「自殺は非常に大きな，しかし防ぐことのできる公衆衛生の問題」と規定し，以後，自殺予防戦略に関する多くの文書を公表してきた。「自殺予防のために取るべき公衆衛生の行動—そのフレームワーク」(2012)，「自殺対策—この緊急課題に対して世界が果たすべき責務」(2014)，「自殺対策を推進するためにメディア関係者に知ってもらいたい基礎知識2017年最新版」(2017)，「コミュニティーが自殺対策に主体的に関与するための手引きとツール集」(2018)，「国家自殺対策戦略—進捗，各国の事例，指標」(2018)などである。WHOの自殺予防戦略は，地域の場において精神保健のみならず包括的・総合的なニーズに応える形で取り組むべきといった，日本のコロナ禍における自殺対策を推進する上でも示唆的なものだった。
