抄録　がん患者は自殺の危険性が高いことが国内外で報告されており，がん医療における自殺対策が急務となっている。全国がん登録制度の開始により，わが国のすべてのがん患者を対象とした自殺の実態調査が可能となった。初回の調査では，がん診断6か月以内のがん患者の自殺の危険性が一般人口と比較して有意に高く，特にがん診断1か月以内の自殺の危険性が最も高いことが明らかになった。また，がん医療における自殺対策を強化する目的で「がん医療における自殺対策の手引き(2019年度版)」を作成した。がん医療における自殺対策のエビデンスは乏しい状況であるが，わが国におけるがん患者の自殺の危険因子などを今後の実態調査でさらに明らかにし，その知見に基づきがん医療における自殺対策を推進していく必要がある。
