英国における中高生に対する精神保健教育

抄録　思春期・青年期は誰しもが不安，感情の揺れを呈しやすい時期であり，精神疾患の好発年齢でもある。しかし，不調を抱えた際にも適切なタイミングで援助希求が行われない場合は多い。こうした援助希求の遅れの背景に心の健康に関する正しい知識の不足があるとされる。学校教育の場は正しい知識や考え方を育むのに最適な場であり，英国などの西欧諸国では，学校で精神保健教育が行われてきた歴史がある。英国では精神保健教育が2020年9月より義務化され，より重要視される流れにある。英国では，学校での精神保健教育はwhole-school approachの一環として行われ，教職員や保護者も含めた学校環境全体への介入，学外の支援機関と連携し進めることが推奨されている。また，精神疾患へのスティグマを軽減するために「精神疾患は他人事ではなく，誰もがなる可能性がある」というメッセージ，「心の健康に関し皆でオープンに話し合える」環境作りが重視されている。
