抄録
　臨床神経病理学的研究は，個々の患者の症例の臨床所見と病理所見の報告の積み重ねによってその病態を理解し，最終的には臨床技量を向上させる研究手段である。その症例蓄積の結果として，疾患単位や診断基準が提唱され，それらが揺るぎのない確たる医学的進歩をもたらした。臨床と病理が両輪として医学の進歩に貢献したことは，アルツハイマー病やレビー小体病の疾患単位が見出された経緯を振り返ればわかる。病理学的な症例報告のポイントは，最初に丁寧な臨床観察がスタートであり，そこから，目の前の患者の脳にどのようなことが起きているかを想起することが重要である。その上で，既報を渉猟し共通項と相違点を整理し，最終的に病理において診断学的検証を行い，新しい知見を見出すのが臨床神経病理学の醍醐味である。症例報告のポイントはまさにこの興味を臨床場面で持ち続けることである。
