A 現状に至った経緯，自閉スペクトラム症（autism spectrum disorder：ASD）の特性も含めご本人の背景を考えます。次に，ご本人のつらさに共感する，長所を見つけほめる，「あなたを攻撃しない」と伝えて信頼関係構築に努めます。要点は簡潔に箇条書きしてメモを使うなど視覚支援も活用します。「ルールを守れない場合は残念だがお手伝いできなくなる」と枠決めします。必要に応じ，気分調整薬や抗精神病薬の投与も考慮します。
