なぜ不安症は女性に多いのか

抄録
　周知のごとく，不安症（anxiety disorders：AD）のほとんどは女性で多く発症する。また，女性AD患者では重症度が高く，臨床症状にも性差があるなど，女性とADとの関連性は男性に比し，より密である。では，この違いは何に起因するのであろうか。本稿では，これまでの知見を総見し，ADの性差に関し推定されるメカニズムについて，内分泌学的な観点に絞って論じた。そして，性ホルモン，特に，卵胞ホルモンであるエストラジオール（E2）や黄体ホルモンであるプロゲステロン（P4）の働き（例：E2とP4の両方が低値の時，恐怖の条件付けの消去が障害される），そしてそれら性ホルモンが月経周期に合わせて変動することが，女性のAD親和性に影響している可能性を示した。女性AD患者の診察・治療に際しては，月経周期も考慮すべきと思われる。
