要旨　sulindac，indomethacin，celecoxibなどの非ステロイド抗炎症剤は家族性大腸腺腫症患者の大腸腺腫を退縮させる効果を有するものの，その効果は完全とは言えない．また，これらの薬剤の大腸癌そのものの予防効果については検討されていない．したがって，現時点でこれらの非ステロイド抗炎症剤は結腸全摘や大腸全摘に替わる治療法ではない．しかし，非ステロイド抗炎症剤などの薬剤の中には，大腸癌予防に有効な薬剤が存在する可能性もあり，更なる検討を要する．また，大腸腺腫退縮の機序の詳細はまだ解明されておらず，その解明はFAPのみならず一般の大腸癌の予防法の確立にも役立つ可能性がある．
