要旨●好酸球性食道炎は何らかの原因により，食道上皮内で好酸球が浸潤することによる慢性炎症が続くことで，つかえ感や嚥下障害などの症状を呈する疾患である．アトピー性皮膚炎や気管支喘息といった病気を合併する頻度が高く，その病因には食物などをアレルゲンとするTh2型の慢性炎症が関与している可能性が考えられている．最終的な診断は生検病理組織による好酸球浸潤の証明と自覚症状によって下されるが，特徴的な内視鏡所見から本症を強く疑うことが可能な場合が多く，その内視鏡像を知っておくことは有用であると考えられる．本稿では好酸球性食道炎の内視鏡診断に関して解説する．
