疾患の概念
　食道顆粒細胞腫（granular cell tumor ; GCT）は1931年にAbrikossoff^1）により報告された疾患で，2.7〜8.1%は消化管に発生し，食道，大腸，胃の順に多い^2）．単発が多いが，多発する場合もある^3）〜^5）．
　食道GCTは食道良性粘膜下腫瘍（submucosal tumor ; SMT）のうち平滑筋腫に次ぎ2番目に多く，約5%を占める．好発部位は中下部食道であり，約90%を占める．多くは良性腫瘍であるが，1〜3%で悪性の報告^6）7）もある．
