　プラハ分類（Prague C＆M criteria）はBarrett食道の内視鏡診断の客観的指標として作成された^1）．プラハ分類以前は3cm未満を“short”もしくは3cm以上を“long”と表記されていたが，より客観的に定量的に評価する目的で本分類が作成され，現在広く用いられている．
　2002年9月にIWGCO（International Working Group for the Classification of Oesophagitis）のサブグループとして第1回のミーティングが行われた．本分類の作成のinternal validation study時には50のビデオクリップが用いられ，それに基づいたexternal validation studyでは29のビデオクリップが用いられた．後者の際には引き抜き時の動画のみが採択されており，プラハ分類は引き抜き操作での判定が望ましいと考えられる．
