はじめに
 腸の炎症性疾患は原因や誘因が多岐にわたるため,しばしば確定診断が困難となる.しかし,最終的に診断できない症例に統一された呼称や定義は定まっていないのが現状である.本主題では“分類不能腸炎(IBDU)”として取り上げられているが,筆者は分類不能腸炎=inflammatory bowel disease unclassified(以下,IBDU)とは考えていない.
 本稿では私見を含めて分類不能腸炎とIBDUの概念,定義,頻度や診断および経過観察中の留意点などについて述べたい.
