　65歳以上の脊椎骨折入院患者に対する診療実態を全国調査した．調査への回答は473施設から得られ，回答日の整形外科入院患者数は計14,242名，施設当たり平均31.0名で，脊椎骨折入院患者数は整形外科患者の10％を占め，その92％が保存治療を受けていた．診断で最も信頼する検査はMRIだったが．施設間差がみられた．外固定は92％の施設がしており，コルセットの軟性と硬性は同率であった．最も強い疼痛時には大半でNSAIDs座薬が使用されていた．平成17年度観血的手術施行数は119施設から622名，経皮的椎体形成術は75施設から257名と回答された．
