生体材料における工夫―銀系抗菌生体材料の開発

　整形外科術後感染予防に対する取り組みの一環として，われわれが研究している銀形抗菌生体材料の開発について紹介する．銀は無機系抗菌剤として，広い抗菌スペクトラムと高い抗菌性を持ち，かつ低毒性を示すことが報告されている．この銀を金属チタン表面にコーティングする方法を複数考案した．その一つが酸化銀を添加したハイドロキシアパタイトをフレーム溶射する方法である．これまでの結果から十分な抗菌性が得られ，かつ明らかな毒性は認められておらず，また骨結合能も有しており，良好な成果が得られている．今後の実用化に向けてさらに研究を進めている．
