　腰椎変性後側弯症のうち変形が重度な例では，グローバル・バランスの破綻と矢状面アライメント異常が患者のQOLを著しく低下させる．このため重度変形例では変形矯正によるグローバル・バランスと矢状面アライメントの正常化が治療目標となる．変形のタイプとカーブのフレキシビリティにより本症を5パターンに分類し，その治療戦略について述べる．
