はじめに

　脊椎腫瘍に対する根治手術である腫瘍脊椎骨全摘術（total en bloc spondylectomy；TES）は2004年1月1日に厚生労働省から先進医療に認定され，2012年4月ついに保険適用となるに至った．TESが保険適用になったこの機会に，これまでのTESの開発と改良，そしてその発展について述べる．
