変形性膝関節症におけるPeriostinの発現とその機能について

■はじめに

　変形性関節症(osteoarthritis；OA)は疼痛，関節の変形および機能不全を起こし，中高年者のADL，QOLの低下に深刻な影響を及ぼす疾患である．病態の解明や新たな薬のターゲット探索を目的として，OA軟骨の網羅的な遺伝子発現解析について度々報告されているものの，その詳細な病態メカニズムはいまだ十分に解明されていない．また，治療薬のニーズは高いが，病態に対して根本的に有効な治療薬はいまだ開発されていないのが現状である．本稿ではげっ歯類OAモデル組織の遺伝子発現解析でOAとの関連が示唆されている“Periostin”^5,15)について，ヒトのOA軟骨組織における発現とその機能について紹介する．
