整形外科医と漢方薬

はじめに

　整形外科医の先生方は，漢方薬にどのようなイメージをお持ちだろうか．

　「うさんくさい」「非科学的」「当たれば効くらしいが，どう処方すればいいかわからない」私が出会った整形外科医の多くはそう答える．

　“そうはいっても漢方薬はどうも効くときは効くから，ちょっと勉強してみようか”と，教科書を読むと“腹力があって……”などの文言が並ぶ．しかも，添付文書を読むと，「重大な副作用は……」などと恐ろしげなことが書いてある．多くの整形外科医にとって，腹など未知の世界であるし，副作用が出てもどう対処してよいかわからないのが現実であろう．

　漢方薬を勉強したいがどうしたらよいかわからない．でも手っ取り早く知りたい．本稿は，そんな整形外科医に捧げたい．
