膝半月板を巡る小史

はじめに

　現今，膝関節領域では前十字靱帯，人工関節置換術，変形性関節症に話題が集中している．これ以外の話題が隅に押しやられている感がある．このこと自体が過去からみた歴史の趨勢と考えられる．日本整形外科学会(以下，日整会)の演題および会誌(以下，日整会誌)を繙いても，時代に沿った必然性のある疾患が，興味の中心を占めているのは当然であろう．

　総論的な膝関節外科の歴史はすでに2014年に吉矢によって述べられているので⁶³⁾，本稿では紙数の関係もあり，半月板(整形外科学用語集では半月やメニスクスも採用されているが，以後「半月板」に統一する)を巡る話題に絞って記述したい．半月板に関する話題をさまざまの観点から，よく知られた研究と同時に今まで陽の当たらなかった，いわば先人の蔭の努力の跡も紹介したい(以下敬称略)．
