パーキンソン病とはなにか

　パーキンソン病の主要な症状が運動症状であることは明らかであるが，それとともに，本特集で扱う疼痛をはじめとしたさまざまな非運動症状を伴うことも，古くから知られている．しかし，運動症状の治療が困難であった時代には非運動症状は重要視されてこなかった．ところが運動症状に対する治療法が発達することで，近年，現状の治療法による効果の乏しい非運動症状はQOL維持において重要な要素となっている．また，これら非運動症状を含めた病態の研究が進むことで，パーキンソン病を脳疾患ではなく，全身疾患として捉えるようになっている．本章では近年の疾患概念と運動症状，非運動症状について概説する．
