　近年，パーキンソン病と慢性の痛みとの関連について，多くの知見が得られている．パーキンソン病はアルツハイマー病に次いで2番目に多い神経変性疾患であり，高齢化社会に伴い患者数は増加している．約30〜50％程度に慢性の痛みは合併し，頻度的にも多い．ドパミンの内服加療の切れ目に出現するoff painと呼ばれるものや，特有の姿勢異常に起因する．パーキンソン病の慢性の痛みの特性について理解し，適切に対応できることは，患者の生活の質を上げるために重要といえる．
