Codmanの業績

　Codmanは「肩聖」と呼ばれたように肩関節の聖人である．その業績の最たるものは，1934年に上梓された「The Shoulder」の著作である．「The Shoulder」の最終ページに，Codman自身が書いたと思われる，「The Shoulder」の気球に乗っているCodmanらしき人物が「The End Result Idea」の旗を降っている図が載っている(図1)¹⁾．この2つ，「The Shoulder」と「The End Result Idea」は，Codman自身の業績と思われる．
