　科学・医学の進歩や人口構成の変化などが加速している時代には，医療の形態や体制も慣れ親しんだ方法の延長線上で対応するのではなく，20年・30年先の姿を十分に考え早くイノベーティブに対応することが大切である．イノベーションの重要性はいわれて久しいが，いまだ知行同一がなされていない分野・場面も多い．医学の進歩で多くの患者が最大にそして継続的に救われるように，特に若い先生方には，ぜひ大きな視野を持ってリウマチ医療のありようを考えてみるきっかけに本稿がなればと願う．
