　現在，アキレス腱断裂における保存療法の治療プロトコールは変革期の中にある．身体所見のみで診断し，ギプスで長期間免荷で治療する時代は過去のものになりつつある．その評価にはエコーが，そして治療にはブーツや専門装具が必要とされ，早期のリハビリテーション開始が大きな流れとなっている．治療方針決定のための評価を行い，患者との話し合いの結果，保存療法が選択されたならば，安全な範囲で適切な装具を使用して，できるだけ早く荷重をかけることが治療の鍵となる．
