水素療法で何ができるか？—運動機能・がん治療を中心に

はじめに

　水素は常温で気体として存在する無色無味無臭の最も軽い可燃性ガスで，気体という形では地球上にはごく微量しか存在しない．大気中には0.00005％のみ存在する．

　水素の重要な特徴は，分子量が小さく拡散速度が非常に大きいため，高分子の間を通り抜け，細孔・薄膜などを容易に透過する点である．生体成分に対しては水溶性，脂溶性を問わずに拡散することから，あらゆる臓器とそれを構成する細胞の中まで容易に，しかも素早く到達することができ，人体へ様々な作用を及ぼすことが報告されている^1,2)．
