　大腿骨骨折術後に生じたインプラント周囲骨折は先行手術のインプラントの存在による手術法選択の制約や骨脆弱性により，術後早期リハビリテーション・ADL再獲得を可能にする強固な内固定が困難であることが少なくない．手術法を選択する上で，骨折部位，先行インプラント，初回骨折部の骨癒合が得られているか否かを考慮する必要がある．二次骨折を予防するためには転倒防止のためのリハビリテーションと骨粗鬆症治療が重要で，これを遂行するためには多職種によるチームアプローチが必要である．
