定義・概念

　ARDS（acute respiratory distress syndrome：急性呼吸窮迫症候群）は肺の炎症と血管透過性亢進による透過性肺水腫を特徴とする症候群で，臨床像としては，急性発症，低酸素血症，胸部X線所見上の両側性の浸潤影，また以上の所見が左房圧または肺毛細血管圧の上昇によるものではないものと定義されている。病理組織学的には血管内皮細胞の膨化，基底膜の断裂が認められる^1）。
