Ⅰ はじめに

 蝸牛において有毛細胞の上部では基底板の振動が受容器電位に変換され(mechanoelectrical transduction),内有毛細胞と聴神経をつなぐシナプスでは受容器電位がスパイク列に変換される。Mechanoelectrical transductionは外有毛細胞の増幅機構にも関与している。有毛細胞の上下という狭い領域にこのような精緻な機構が存在し,今までは不明な点が多かったがこの10年で画期的な知見が続々と得られている。
